Some days

Some days we do a lot, and I feel like I could totally rock homeschooling... like today.

Kids got up and had breakfast, then our TV time (which included Signing Time to review some sign language which we have taken a break from since David began talking). I got Alex's closet organized while they played with the big floor Letters. They played on the path they made. I turned it into a jumping game. Then we did some painting. David got bored quickly and we played and the Alex joined in. We did a game where I told them to step on a letter. With David I just said "Step on the letter D", with Alex I said "Step on the letter that sounds like sssss". After that we did our paper lessons. David worked on his sticker book with me and Alex did her reading and math lessons. Then we went to the small white board and I reviewed how to draw a couple of letters for Alex. She practiced on her small white board and David drew on his. Since their work was done they both got a turn for an educational activity on the iPad. Then we had lunch. Alex finished her iPad activity and now they are in quiet time. David is currently working on puzzles and singing "Jesus Loves Me" very loudly. Alex is playing on her own.

This kind of day is why homeschooling would be so cool. However, every day is different. Some days we don't do anything that I consider "educational" and they just play. Sometimes they play really well on their own and I get things done around the house and sometimes they need me to referee or be part of all the games. Sometimes somebody is having a hard day and most things involve tears and frustration. Sometimes we have activities outside of the house, like the park or play dates.

With the homeschooling journey, I just hope the postitive days like today outweigh the tough ones.
