More Valentine’s

Continuing with our Valentine's theme, we did several more heart activities this week. On the actual day, the kids got a few cards, a litte gift and balloon. Then we really did up hearts for the day. Heart pancakes for breakfast, heart PBJ sandwiches for lunch, and made our own heart shaped pizza for dinner. We also made/colored heart headbands and did a heart find activity.

Gymnastics has been continuing and Alex is doing great. I see her compared to the other preschool kids and she is very advanced. In the fall she will be moving up to the lower elementary class, which will be a better fit for her. She still has a lot of fun. This week she actually did a new move on the bar. It was basically a pullover from the ground. She has some strong core muscles!

David has been practicing his ABCs all the time. He sings that or Jesus Loves Me all day. It is cute to watch him interact with songs on the tv or iPad. He sings along with anything he can. He is also very interested in trains. He loves playing with his big train and pushing that around the house. Trains, trucks, dinosaurs or cats... those are the things that keep him busy.

My grandma Giles had her 103 birthday. They had a nice birthday at her house with a lot of the Giles clan and church friends. Then my nephew turned 2 this week too, so it was a big birthday week for the Arizona family.

We had a few nice days and the kids were able to play outside a bit. We have several mud patches around the yard and they are usually pretty dirty by the time they come in. I'm trying to be ok with this... it doesn't bother them. I just have them leave their shoes outside and then they change their closthes when they come it. It is working ok, except on the days where they are doing a lot of digging in the dirt by hand.

I moved two of my garden boxes. I'm hoping their new location will have better light. My early spring flowers are making their debuts. Many of the daffodils are blooming, a few crocus are starting to come up and a some of the new Tulips are poking through. Hopefully it will be a nice spring garden. Last year we had a big freeze right when my daffodils were all blooming. I guess it's been a pretty warm winter, but I'm sure we have plenty more cold days to come.
