I never know how far back to go when I haven't blogged in a while. So I guess I will start with the New Year.

Winter is my least favorite time here. I can never think of things to do and it is bleak outside. It's been pretty cold lately and we have been mostly inside.
For New Year's, we didn't do much here. I had just been in Nashville to celebrate my friend Alicia's 40th birthday. It was a fun but brief trip since I had to be home for Sunday with the kids. Nathan organized a FaceTime with the family, so we got to see some folks and how big our nephew Ben is getting. Hopefully we will get out to meet him in person this year. After dinner the kids had these special Hot Chocolate Bears which dissolved in milk. They thought that was very fun.

This week we were back to school. Alex is working on not complaining when she does her handwriting page. It works sometimes. I have also started doing Lessons with David. I use a free online curriculum that i did with Alex as well. He is happy to have some focused time for his lessons like his sister. We have just been working on the letter A.
Today we decided to head out to the Visitor Center of the Smokey Mountains to get out for a while. It was pretty cold, but we were OK when bundled up. This trip we saw quite a few Elk. The kids were really hoping to see some, but when we did, they were pretty scared. There was a big herd wandering around the river and a few sitting along the tree line.
Now we are back home and about to start with dinner. We are trying to eat fish more often, even though I am not a fan. Hopefully we can find a recipe that I like and can eat more often.
