Busy Summer

We've been busy this summer. But that is the way I like it. Alex's Swimming Lessons went well. By the end she was putting her whole head underwater while paddling and kicking. She still needs me to support her middle and such, but she came a long way.
We had visits from Zach's parents and then my sister and her family. Both visits were great 😊 Lots of great times together.
Since the last visit, we have been getting things sorted to start Kindergarten for Alex. We already had the curriculum. Alex got to pick out a special binder. Then I spend several days organizing the various curriculum choices into her binder, another binder (for the rest of the month) and getting the lesson plans in my planner. She is set up for a week at a time in her binder. Then I will change it out at with the pre-set materials. This way I have one month set and ready at a time.

We will be doing a 4 day/week schedule. That includes Phonics, Math, Handwriting, Science or Social Studies, other lessons included in the Abeka curriculum that are sometimes problem solving or practical life skills, and Piano. I then organized the materials in the cabinet for easy daily access.
Today for our Friday activity, we went to Whitewater Falls. I guess it's the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi. It was a large one. There was a short hike involved then a nice view. Zach didn't care for the fact that there was really just one shot you could take. Then this afternoon we went to the pool. Alex was having fun, but David pretty much hung next to me the whole time. It was really busy and likely a bit overwhelming for him.

Tomorrow is an installation service in Asheville, but I think me and the kids will skip it. Otherwise just w cleaning and shopping day for us.
